Unhappy 22re Idles weird, runs cold, cuts out....

So I have been running into some issues with my 22re lately. I have a 1989 pickup and have been noticing it running cold. It will heat up then hover about a quarter of the way up on the temp gauge.

I also notice it cutting out when accelerating. Nothing huge that makes it jump but you can feel the lack of power.

When I first start it, it idles really high and doesn't go back to normal even after pressing the gas. I came out the other day and it was doing the rev..rev...rev...rev... idle. Running really rough. Ill sometimes notice when I come to a stop it will be idling really high.

I am stumped. I've checked hoses, electronics, changed my thermostat.

Could this be an EGR issue?

EFI doesn't have a choke, it idles high until it warms up. Check the ECT sensor, check for codes. Did you put a colder thermostat in?

Nope same thermostat. It was the same before and after. Also isn't the EGR the valve assembly behind the efi manifold? After researching that is sounding like the best bet givin the "symptoms" it's having

Threw a different thermostat in, same problem. Checked all plugs and wires and distributer cap. All good. Cleaned out air intake. Can't get any codes to show up on their little machine. Someone has to have experience with this

Idling high and running rough suggest a vacuum leak. Check the air intake tube that runs from the throttle body to the air box for cracks.

Checked it and nothing

How about this for a kicker. If I'm in 4th gear going 35 mph and step on the gas the check engine light comes on. When the engine is under a bit of a load it seems like that's when the light will come on.
