I just got a '90 w/22RE & auto 2whl. I have to rebuild motor, so don't know how slow it is yet. It seemed fine at 20mph.

Ummm, quite slow... hills are a problem at times, but what the hell, its not what its made for and its pretty damn good on gas

Id take it anyday over the 3.0

1990 22RE 4Runner right here. Mine's geared too high (4.10s with 31" tires) and its still not "slow". It is also a heavy second gen 4Runner. In my books, the V6 first gen was quick. My 22re works just fine, though because of the gearing, I find at the speeds I frequent, its always wanting to be in between gears (ie: too fast for second, too slow for third).

quite the slow, doesn't feel it until u drive something else or one with a 5spd, barely 35mph on floored pulling hills not so fun, 4.30s and 32s don't help either lol, then i went to 35s, but i loved it
