1st gen SR5 seat slides?

Does the passenger seat on the 1st gen 4runners slide when folded? And does it have a lever to slide forward/back? Mine doesn't for either, just curious if that's the way they are or if I need to fix it.
Thanks!

yes, it slides forward when folded. no, there is no separate lever to slide it forward or backward. there is only a single position for the passenger seat.

If yours does not tilt forward and slide the likely reason is a broken cable. If you have the cable housing you can rebuild it with parts from a bike store and hardware store.

It tilts forward, but doesn't slide. I have it out of the truck now and don't necessary see something broken. Left some creep oil on it, maybe it will free up. If not, I'll start looking around for what could possibly be caught/broke. Don't really care to put new seats in right now, but definitely need it sliding.

Arent there three handles on those? One on the side, one in the rear, both make it fold and slide. And then another on the front that just triggers slide..

I have never rode in that seat so I'm not really sure at this point.

I have an SR5 seat apart at the moment so i shot a few photos and marked up where the cable goes(not sure which side in the rear it runs to looking at the photos in retrospect). Hope this helps.

none of my 3 have a handle for slide only. the fold lever triggers the slide function.

Makes good sense because passenger only gets one fixed location but can tilt back with the fold lever while seated.

I have replaced that cable about 5 times by now.
I simply gave up. People get in via the drivers side. I'm done with it.

edit: okok I'm looking for a new / used seat slider

Hah. Well glad it sounds doable at least. It makes sense now, I guess when it folds forward, it tightens the cable and those hinges release, sliding forward. I’ve got to fix that, and replace the springs/wire rods. But at least the drivers side works!

Thanks for for the pic! Even though I have my seat out and have stared it down, that simplifies it. Are you rebuilding the entire seat?

I got this set of Sr5 seats about ready to go in. I had the seat apart to swap the bases between driver’s seat and passenger.

My track was grinding (no grease) and in my youthful stupidity I pulled the "thing" that was sticking out 19 years ago. Seems it was the thing that acts like a bearing cage of sorts.

It's been wiggling like a seesaw since then.
I never sit there, so ...
But it's time. To fix everything that is broken.
The list was and is quite long indeed.

I even have a quiet, stock sounding exhaust these days.

If you don't have the cable housing, which is a special Y configuration, I think you can still buy the part new or get it off ebay sellers but you need that housing for it to work.
