Hi all,
Last winter I noticed a lot of play in the truck when driving in 4x4 high, the truck would shake a lot when going over 25mph. When I got the truck, the driver's side hub took a lot of force to move into the locked position, so I always suspected it was the locking mechanism that was broken, not actually the 4x4 gearing. I recently took it to a shop to get it winter-ready and they quoted me at 800$ to replace the locking mechanisms because the tensions springs inside the hub have snapped (which is why it's rattling). I balked at the cost- now I'm wondering if this is a feasible DIY project? I'm fairly handy, have replaced small parts on the truck and tackled a fuel pump replacement. Looking for any helpful advice/videos that would walk me through it step-by-step OR let me know it's something to have a professional do and what a reasonable cost is.
