90 4Runner V6. Has almost no power starting from stop. Transmission rebuilt and engine tuned. Ideas?

just kidding, are you getting any codes? What do you mean engine tuned? What did you do to it?

 

Dead on answer - thanks. Rubber spacer was split. Put a tube around the cable and zip tied it. 100% improvement.

 

How do you read the codes on this thing? Check engine light is on but the standard ODB reader doesn't fit connector. Without going to a Toyota dealer how do I read the codes?

 

Awesome, I knew I couldn't be the only one with this issue. As far as the Odb port, do you have a ODBII scanner? If so it wont work. That wasnt standard till '96. You will have to use the diagnostic port

 

Understand that. So where is diagnostic port and how do I read it? Is there a device or connector? Tx

 

Its under the hood behind the battery. I'm doing this from memory, but you turn the car off, jump E1 and T E1 with a paper clip and turn the key . Count the flashes to get the code number. Do a search to find what the codes mean. I think its also in the user manual that came with the truck if you have it.
