I have a 1990 4 runner that has a V-6 and auto tranny it slips in reverse and I cant figure it out or find any tranny breakdown or troubleshooting guide, please help

 

thats not a good sign what you will want to try to do is take the trans pan off and replace the filter and fluid and clean the pan and the magnets in the pan mine did that and my clutches were all over the bottom of the pan or you could flush the system by have the 4runner idleing and take off the hose that connects to the bottom of the raditior and that will help get some of the fluid out but dont let all of it come out or it will burn up the pump in the trans so after about maybe 3 to 4 quarts put it back on and then take the pan off and like i stated above drain and clean the pan and replace the filter hopefully that will help stop if not slow down the wearing out of the clutch packs

 

ok we did all that so how hard is it to do the cluch packs

 

trans is goin to have to come out and from that you might as well put all in new packs in and from what ive heard its not to hard

 

do have a diagram or a page that will show the break down for this

 

hahaha i wish i just swaped a new trans into my truck and chuncked my old one

 

how much was the new tranny

 

i found it used and it had about 150kmiles that was alot less than my 260k miles but i paid about 400 bucks for it
