timing chain cover question

timing chain cover question

hey i was wondering if you have a 22re bare block and have a 22r head/ timing chain cover will it bolt onto the 22re block or are they different sizes?

If they are both '85 or later then all should fit. The pre-85 blocks were shorter than the later ones, so I would imagine the timing chain cover would be shorter as well.

yea they should fit if they are in the same year groups, when i did my rebuild there was several parts that would fit on the 22r and 22re.

The heads are same for 22r/e as well. Regardless if it has the oval or pear shaped exhaust ports

Thats not true, the oval shaped exhaust heads have a center mount exhaust stud and are the 81-84 style. The "pear" or "lightbulb" style is 85-95 only. The two can't be interchanged without some sort of modification to at least the exhaust and intake (which bolt on different as well)
