Seeking Help with Temp Gauge Wiring
Alright so I am Tinkering around on my 87' Gen 4 pickup ,The Temp Gauge in the cluster is no longer working .I have located the Water temp Sender under the thermostat housing . The issue I am running into is the wire Running from the Sender to the gauge is no longer there ( previous owner cut it out ) So My question is , How do I go about restoring the gauge to working order ? Links , Website , Threads ? I have purchased a new Sender But am falling short on finding info about how its all connected . Any help is Appreciated

Nevertheless, temp GAGE sender is not under the thermostat.
It is hidden amidst and under the intake manifold.
Pls search within the forum using "google", search. Not "thread", Not "post". Latter two methods are LAME.

What engine is in your 1987 Truck? 22R? 22R-E? 22R-TE?
The sender for the gauge is in different places depending on your engine.
The sender on the 22R carbureted engine is under the thermostat between the thermostat housing and the mechanical fuel pump.

looks like it should be a yellow and green wire.
It should be coming off your passenger side fender somewhere if I recall. I no longer have my 22r but a 3.4. When I first got my truck I just put a female compression disconnect onto it because the temperature sending unit had a male. I hope this helps.
EDIT:

Luckily I’m at my Dad’s in Washington. I have my old truck up here with an engine swap but the wiring is the same and in the original locations. I’m at work right now but I’ll take a picture of it when I get home.
