All on the fritz: turn signals, temp gauge, fuel gauge, idiot lights
I just did the headgasket job, and I must have disturbed a wire to the ECU as I did it, or maybe I messed up grounding? Or something else?
DOESN'T WORK: turn signals, temp gauge, fuel gauge, idiot lights
WORKS: hazard lights, headlights, dash backlight, radio, dome light, windshield wipers
Seems like maybe it has something to do with "stuff that turns on at the second key click" (is that called "ignition" / "IGN" ?).
I gotta confess, the one thing that didn't end up marked on my re-assembly instructions were the two bond cables. The one near the intake I bolted to the intake manifold stay, figuring that goes straight into the block.
The "rear bond cable" I couldn't figure out, I bolted it to the top of the valve cover, but that doesn't seem right at all (esp since the valve cover floats on a rubber gasket). Where does the rear bond cable go to? Could that be causing my problem?
thanks so much everyone, I'm almost there, almost there, almost there <taps ruby slippers together three times>

thanks rworegon, I've been looking for that diagram for a while! I only had one ground wire wrong (the rear bond cable), and I moved it to the correct location. Didn't fix the problem, but I feel better =)
I've checked most of the fuses, I'm going to go out and check them all. Are there fuse boxes besides the one by the battery, and the one behind the kick-panel on the driver-side next to your left foot?
I still suspect that its some disturbed wire, it seems more likely that I fubarred something I touched than something up in the dash/fusebox happened to go south at exactly the same time as I did the hg?

I cannot answer where your fuses are located since I have a different model/year, but I have some near the battery and some under the dash. Maybe someone else will chime in with more help.....
You may find something in the search too.....that's how I found the grounds thread.

Found the problem: corrosion of the ENGINE fuse (located in the driver side kick on my year). Cleaned off the corrosion and it works again!
thanks for the assist sam333 and rworegon
