I wasn't going to get photos of much yesterday in Vermont but how could I not? We go every fall for the foliage and have a bunch of photos, them colors are intense! We found the best road side picnic spot ever too. Someone must have just left because the fire was still smoldering and didn't take much to get going again.

a rest stop for coffee at Whately Diner in Whately MA. We've been by it several times and needed some caffeine so stopped to see it up close.

Doing a little bit of upholstery work on the 4runner. Thanks to Melrose 4r I now have the proper passenger seat frame. Thanks again for that. I had to switch our cushions to the frame. It turned out that the upper cushion didn't use hog rings to hold it together at the bottom just a plastic clip piece.

Third time's a charm. This is the second stereo I put into the 4Runner, third one all together. The last one tried to eat our CD and said it wasn't there then all of a sudden it did work again and was having memory issues LOL also added this fun little switch to use the original horn again along with the Dual horns. Now we can be our own traffic jam. Maybe I'll label it "kILL" could be fun🤣 I've had the switch for a while now but never got around to it till now. Hopefully this stereo lasts a little while. I've got a cheapy stereo in Herbie that's over 10 years old, Jensen apparently equals junk.

just me and captain Kirk hanging out in the hospital parking lot while the wife gets some tests done. Lots of looks and people noticing it out there. Then some dummy banging her door of the rock rail.

then yesterday we took advantage of the warm weather, mid 70s and took the 4runner to the beach again.

Spotted this old Plymouth by Bradley International Airport today while out running errands with the 4runner.

I went a few miles out of my way just to go to a store right in town. So went two towns over and cruised around a bit. Maybe some snow in the near future and once they start putting salt down again I decided if we do drive it this winter it will be very limited.

this is the first time we've seen this here but it's off season for the beach and we rarely get to the beach in the off season. Cool thing to see up close!

yesterday at our father and son annual tradition Black Friday lunch. Every year we would take my 66 VW beetle but the engine is still sitting in pieces almost a year later. Gotta get motivated after long wait for heads that never came.

Other projects to take my time though, i finally replaced the dieing Cosco Interstate battery. Im giving a Bosch group 34 battery a try. I went from 550 CCA to 680 . It's a little bit of a longer and shorter battery from the Interstate battery so I had to put the spacer back under it but the lenght wasn't a problem.

Next thing to address is the belts. The alternator belt has been squealing during down shifting lately. All are real loose but it's time for new.

these guys Crack me up! I read something somewhere about some places giving the wrong with belts so even though it's a little pricey this way I'm gonna give them a try. We've had a similar problem with the wrECHO. the power steering pump belt doing this at times no matter how I've adjusted it. We'll have to see it there may be different withs for that belt......

Have you checked, for the squealing PS belt, the bearing of the PS belt's idler pulley? They go bad all the time, and squeal like a slipping belt. Before I sold my 87 4Runner, I kept 2 spare pulleys, with bearings already pressed in, in it.
They are available that way from most auto parts stores. Just makes life easier when it comes time to replace the bearing. Rather than having to press a new bearing into the old pulley, maybe out on the trail, or out on the highway, you just swap pulleys. If you want, then you can replace the bearing in the old pulley at your leisure, and voila! You now have a spare again. OR you can just toss the old pulley with bearing and go buy another one.

Good luck!
Pat☺

ha ha, I have that exactly! I replaced both idler pulleys and sourced a bearing to press into the PS pulley so it's ready to go. I was going to put the original pulley back in but never got around to it.

So I finally got around to replacing the alternator belt power steering belt and AC compressor belt. Turns out whatever belt I had on the alternator originally was wrong because I couldn't adjust it any further to tighten it , the new one has plenty of room now. But it looks like the alternator is on its way out or something the voltage keeps dropping when driving it if everything's on gets down to like 12 volts at a stoplight. Have to start turning stuff off to conserve energy. Going to look in the rebuilding the original alternator unfortunately the one in it is only 2 years old but it's a RockAuto thing so. And to test that after finally finding my multimeter turns out something's wrong with that now, it reads every battery at 18 volts for some reason LOL anyway this will be on the back burner for a while now I got another project to start on.

Wow. Is that a Jeepster? What year? That is very worthy of restoration even if it is a Jeep. LMK if you do a build thread somewhere. There was a mint one cheap near me a few months ago. I hope it found a good home.

Yeah it's a 1967 Jeepster commando . It has a similar front axle as the 4runner ( knuckle ball) even though it's a Dana and not Toyota 😁 it's another non salt belt vehicle. It's from VA originally. I saw it and thought of that FJ 40 I didn't jump on years ago and now look at th prices for them. Maybe these will be the next big thing. From what I've researched it looks like only 55000 were made. I love the patina and plan on it becoming then daily driver.
