Just a few rebuild questions.

Hey guys. So I have my short block I finally found all stripped down ready for the machine shop to know the condition and sizing that I need for everything. However I am looking for a little knowledge on what I should go with.

It is going to be a street truck that I want to get good MPG with. I would like to have enough power to fill the bed up with stuff and get going with relative ease as well. I want durability as I am trying to do everything right the first time.

My plan is to get most of my stuff from ENGNBLDR but as far as O/B the cylinders, O/S valves, and cam I am not sure what combinations will do what.

So my real question is, considering what I am looking to use it for, should I do an overbore (.030 over or something). Should I get the head from ENGNBLDR with the O/S valves or just do the stock size. And should I get the stock cam, 261, or 268 that he offers?

This is my first rebuild and I don't want to piece some stuff together and have it not work out.

Right now I am leaning towards the minimum bore that is required to refinish the cylinders, O/S Valves, and the 261.

Might also need a new crank because it looks like this one spun a rod bearing.

What do you all think?

5spd or auto? I have an auto so really don't wanna add horsepower as the tranny ( Flexplate) prolly wont take the abuse...

Call and ask engnbldr. He won't steer you wrong.

Ok, so I finally was able to get this block checked out and of course, it had already been worked and the crank and one of the connecting rods is no good (Spun a rod bearing and chewed the metal).
I am now pricing out cranks and considering getting just one rod, or a whole set.

Do you guys have any places you go for cranks?
Is it worth looking for a crank at a yard and getting it ground or just go for a refurbished one online?

So far the cheapest I found that is not eBay weird junk is this.
http://www.yotashop.com/crankshaft-20r-22r-22re/ - 155 +144 Core + 50 shipping

I've never looked for cranks so I am not sure where to go from here.

I have not looked for quite awhile but Engine Builder Had a package that came with a new crank

I agree bore no more then needed.

These engines build power in the head go for the over size valves
