Electric Windows

Did any trucks 84-88 come with electric windows?
For some reason I thought the SR5 package had these, but I think I am wrong.

If you have anyone, would like to purchase if the price is right.

Yes, but they were few and far between. I converted my 84 to power windows and locks via panels off an 88 4runner. Your best bet is to look for an 88 4runner as they have the nicer molded bezels. I can tell you this for sure gray is easiest to find. red is next then brown and blue. In my 15 yrs of looking I have only had the chance to buy a brown pair once and have seen pics twice. You will need the wiring harnesses not only from the door but get the other side too that goes into the main wiring harness. You will need a door control relay as well has the harness that plugs into it. This harness is the hardest to find. Try and find yourself a donor truck and pull everything from it. Also a factory wiring diagram comes in mighty handy too. I'm not gonna lie, it was a lot of work. Here are some before and after pics.

I dont know what year they started getting electric windows and door locks. I see some SR5 with just a few options and a few have every option available. Those are hard to find on the 84-88.

Any option that requires electric is determined by the main harness in the dash. From my experience, cruise control, electric window, electric locks, glove box light, drop light, low level fuel light, maplight, curb lights in the door when open, head light on reminder, are the ones I can think of. Not all harneses are prewired for these options from what I have found.

Other options are stripes, wheels, sunroof, cloth interior panels, SR5 printed in the seat cloth, door panels, that I can think of and sure I have missed one or two. I have not found any information on what determines an SR5. I have seen some SR5s that just had one or two more options then a very base model.

kasko... Looks like you did a great job on your truck just by the few pics I could see.

I have seen a few 85 trucks with the turbo package come pretty loaded. Mostly it was always the 4runners that had power options. The switches were pretty basic retagles on the side of the doors at first. It wasn't until 88 and 89 when the 4runners have the nicer molded control bezels for locks and windows which I found. I never replaced the trucks main wiring harness, I found what I needed to make the upgrade and wired everything seperatly. If your looking for interior upgrades look for 4runners. Thanks for the props. My truck is an 84 4x4, frame off resto with a 350 swap and fiberglass bed.

Red face

The one that is holding up all the trees had a Moon roof and power windows and locks .

I hope I can at least salvage those parts.

Thanks for all the info guys.

My truck is finally running.
It is a 85 full frame off build with a 4.3L.
I am about to get the body work and in primer but wanted to get doors that had everything for electric windows and locks first.

Everytime I have seen a truck with the stripe down the side like this http://www.jamesdeancreations.com/To...0XC-SB%20p.jpg it is a fully loaded truck. Just the two turbo trucks I have seen were fully loaded. The 4Runners were usually more options available.

I too am doing a full frame off restore on an 85 extra cab. I lucked out and had to replace the wiring harness and got the harness off a 86 extra cab that had the most options on it that I have ever seen. I am hoping at a later time to get all of them working.

subaruwrx88011...Just noticed your link on your frame off and it is looking good. I always liked seeing frame off rebuilds. One of my friends had a wrx and it was quick. Great little cars.

I have the factory brochures for a few years, and I own an 84 SR5 and have owned an 89 SR5, both 4runners. The 84 has PW, sunroof, Power antenna, but manual locks and mirrors. The 89 had Power everything, locks, mirrors, windows, antenna and a sunroof.

The later interior is much more refined than an 84. IMO, if someone wants to do a build, depending on what your end goal is, the 88-89 SR5 is the way to go. You already have the wider rear axle, you already have the IFS steering gear box, and you get a much nicer interior. If its a 22re, it will have less miles than one that is from 84 or 85. If it's a V6, you will be ready for a 3.4 swap. You are just one SAS away from an awesome rig, if you want a SA.
