'85 Hilux with Nissan Skyline Ld28

Saw this truck at my sons school today. Noticed a for sale sign on it and asked the guy about it. Apparently it has a Nissan LD28 diesel in it from a Skyline. He hasn't had for long and hasn't been off road with it. Never heard of the conversion before. He wants a lot of money for it, $6000 (NZ dollars remember), but interesting. Anyone know much about these motors? Pretty strong by most accounts. I wonder how much he'd go down on the price. Perhaps I should take it for a spin.

Looks a tad rough..

FYI, $6000 Kiwi is just under $5000 US.

(My NZ acquaintances called themselves Kiwis, hope it isn't derogatory)

Wikipedia...

Kiwi is the nickname used internationally for people from New Zealand,[1] as well as being a relatively common self-reference. The name derives from the kiwi, a flightless bird, which is native to, and the national symbol of, New Zealand. The usage is not offensive, being treated with pride and endearment as a uniquely recognisable term for the people of New Zealand.

As far as this truck goes...Buy. It. Now.

Fink, the only thing I remember (those guys loved to party) was that they hated being mistaken for Aussies. Guess I should have done some searching before taking the chance at offending someone.

Doesn't look like they'd be offended by it at all.

I was just posting the definition for ya.

It's a pretty cool set up eh? SAS 6 cyl diesel twin cab. Apparently he has a tow bar and bull bar that goes with it.

No offence here either....plus I was born in Aussie so I can barrack for both teams.

learn something new everyday, didn't realize Nissan even had a diesel. If you think that is rough the USA must have lower expectations and/or not so good eyes. Because other then the mud on the engine bay that thing looks rather clean and solid.

At first look of the engine bay it threw me off as I didn't see the brake booster, then realized, it's RHD.
