Hard Starting Hot 22RE Engine

Aloha People,

I just encountered for the 2nd time this week hard starting a hot engine. It starts up good on the first crank then I drive it a couple of mile where the temperature gauge reaches normal operating temperature. I park it then go to the store or ATM for a few minutes then return to find it hard to start where long cranks don't turn the engine over. I don't smell unburnt gas but then again the wind is blowing away from me. After about 10-15 minutes of cranking then stop and turning the ignition key off for a minute or 2, the engine finally starts. All accessories like the a/c, radio and others that run on 12 volts are turned off.

I have a 1993 Toyota 4x4 Hilux, regular cab with the 22RE engine. I'm guessing to start at the ECU Temperature Sensor and checking the resistance (ohms) with the engine cool.

Thanks very much, any tips is greatly appreciated.

when it happens, unplug the cold start injector. it's classic rich condition. if it starts up fine, then i would suspect the colds start injector timer switch is either bad or not getting coolant temp.

Thanks folks, I'll check these. The last complete tune up was October 2014 when I replaced the timing chain.
