6" allpro leaf springs to 4" ?

hi guys did a few searches over the past couple of weeks and could not find info specific to my scenario. i picked up a used set (front & rears) of 6" all pro leaf spring for my 85 4runner, i have a 4" inch lift now that rides like crap..super stiff crappy flex!! i want to keep 4" lift since i need to fit the 4runner in my trailer i will eventually install shock hoops and weld in new spring hangers for the longer rear springs etc.... what im trying to figure out is do you guys have a formula for this? like a set amount of leafs to remove from the pack? like a general rule type of thing..i know the best is trial and error put them on drop the truck and see how they look. any allpro leaf spring users that have done this? truck has marlin hi-steer. any info would be apperciated. thanks!

Usual formula is to pull the 2nd to the bottom leaf and see what that does. Also, you could mix-n-match leaves with your existing 4" springs until you get the ride height and quality you are after:

thank you 4crawler for the info. i will start by removing the 2nd to last, also i forgot to mention...i will be replacing the shackle up front with a aftermarket beefer one. looks like it about 5" so that will give a bit of a lift as well. any allpro leaf spring user...???? what your thoughts on removing leaf(s) and the ride quality after on these particular leaf spring pack?

why not just get the right parts instead of trying to butcher the ones you have? Trade somone your 6" ap springs for some 4" springs. Someone out there is bound to want that trade.

ok i will try to figure out how to pm scuba see if i can get his imput. i got the springs at a really good price and they look pretty clean PO says they havent been abused, i wanted the option of maybe down the road actually having a 6" lift but i never thought tinkering with the pack would be considered butchering them??..ive seen several posts of folks fine tunining the suspension by adding or removing springs.

my bad, butcher was probally the wrong word. Why not take a leaf out of the springs currently on your truck and add in your longer shackle. In theory, that will smooth out the ride, give you the added flex and depending which leaf you remove, will make it sit about the same height with the longer shackle.

no worries, you know i thought about that and i took it to a shop that does leaf springs and he suggested i replace the leafs because i only have 3 in the pack that are on the truck now. each leaf is thick not like the all pro...more leafs but thinner.. and i had 3inch lift blocks in the back..so i was due for a set of springs....i started taking it apart and man i will need a extra set of hand..i will keep you guys posted. im already seeing an issue with the angle of the axle..but i will see for sure when i bolt it all up...plus i will need longer u bolts..im in san diego anyone know who might have these in stock locally?

bolted everything up and it is a bit higher than i wanted. however, i like the way it looks though ! and rides way better. i think im going to leave it like this. i will be doing the rear here in the near future. i will need to extend my front drive shaft, and the shocks and mounts..but so far i like !! i am wondering if these springs will settle at all...
