Where abouts on the carb is this screw? I've had a replacement Aisin carb fitted upto my 22R and the idle is set at nearly 1,500RPM once it's warm.. It also surges when my A/C is on (going between 1000-1500RPM when Idling, but doesn't surge when the A/C is off..

Also my revs don't really drop when I'm changing between gears, and it's starting to annoy me...

Any help with pics would be greatly appreciated.

 

Sorry for the size but I thought if I shrunk it down you wouldn't be able to see as well. Ignore the red circles. Blue circle is the idle speed screw. Sorry it's blocked by vacuum hose...best photo I've got though. You can see the spring that the screw goes through in the circle. Anyway hopefully that gets it for you. The lower tilted screw is the cold start idle speed but that shouldn't be your issue, go with the higher flat (level) screw I've got circled. Not sure what all your issues are...but that's the idle speed screw. Make sure you throttle cable isn't binding somewhere. Check from the pedal all the way to the throttle.

wow thats alot of vaccum lines........... id go bonkers with that..... where is the idle screw on a weber 2 barrel

 

Google it. There's tons of Weber info online, you can probably find the user manual that came with your carb.

 

i recently purchased a 1989 toyota pickup with a 22r engine after a couple of days the engine would not idle unless i kept my foot on the gas after countless hrs of frustration i turned to you and your webpage by researching and finding the picture of the carb and the idle screw location a few simple turns of a screwdriver saved me a coslty repair bill thank you so much for your help

 

i have a 81 22r 4x4 and when i chank it up it just recently started idlein at 1000 i can be goin down the rode and pput it in nuetral and it still stays at 1000 but i can press the clutch in or in nuetral rev it up to 2000 and the idle will go back down to 500 wat could this be?

Anyway...

In regards to your question, there could be linkage binding issues, or improper vacuum hose routing, carburetor linkage could just need cleaning and lubrication, ventures/butterflies inside carb base could need cleaning/lube, timing can affect idle characteristics, or you could just have a worn out carb/engine/truck.....

 

Your A/C idle up screw is adjusted to far in. I have had that same issue on my carburetor as well.

In the attached pic you can see where I circled in red the idle up screw. You can also see it in 83's pic too to the left of the blue circle. Turn the screw counter-clockwise to set the idle speed to the highest without getting the surge. My is right around 1,400 RPMs

 

I bought a 83 Toyota pickup and I'm having trouble starting my truck I messed with the idle screw and Now it won't start what it's the factory settings on that too get started or could it be something else

 

Hey brother, you've posted in a dead thread. Try starting a new thread if you haven't already resolved your issue.

As for your issue - which screw specifically did you "mess with"? If you screwed in the screw the points directly at your chest, and has a spring on it, you have likely screwed it in too far; try rotating it clockwise a few more turns to increase the idle speed. If youve messes with a screw thats also faces directly towards you, but is inside a small hole on the side of the carb, you have messed with the air/fuel mixuture - Screw this screw in all the way until it bottoms out, then back it out 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 turns to get your carb back to a basline setting. The screw pictured in the last picture will not cause your vehicle to not start.

was the place the idle screw pivots off was sticking abit cause the car had been sit not running for alittle while WD-40 and afew revs small adjustment to screw was all it needed
