towing capacity

I have a 1982 pickup 22r carb 4x4 with 35 all terrains and there is no telling what gears it has, but it feels stock.

I want to know what is the max you would feel comfortable towing in this truck.

BTW I last thing I towed was a towed was about a 15 foot trailer loaded down with a king sized bed, a wrap around couch, kitchen table, all kinds of things you would have when you move a house. It felt good to me when i towed this and it was when i was riding around in 4x4 without a rear driveshaft.

Have you upgraded your brakes? The 35's are already putting a load on your brakes. I would not go above 1500lbs but that is just me,

I wouldn't haul anymore than you did with that trailer load.
Like they said above, those 35's are putting quite a bit of strain on it already.

heh, I had to tow my 85 mr2, poor truck couldn't do it to well up a hill good thing I had a turn off other wise I would have been going back down it I supose I could have put it in 4wd low... but yeah need not be in a hurry with these trucks, I really don't think they were ment to tow much of anything.

My truck though is a 79 with a 20r 4x4

most ive towed with my 88 22re stock was a buddys motorhome when it broke down. towed it about 40 miles. seemed to do fine, but then again it had 145,000 on the clock instead of 300,000.... so yeah...

it was a 1978 dodge motorhome with a 360 in it. it was a little bigger than the toyota dolphin motorhome. i towed it at maybe 40mph. like i said the engine was much younger then. it had close to 150,000 on it, and now it has around 300,000. though when i was towing that thing, my brakes and transmission didnt like me very much. plus i started with a full tank, 40 miles later it was empty... lol.

Before I got rear-ended and the bumper got ruined, I towed a ton of stone on a flatbed with mine. Did just fine, just had to stop sooner than usual and it handled a bit differently.
