starting my 83 2rz swap
Hey guys and gals I haven't posted a lot but thought it would be a good time to start gettin more involved lol So I have an 83 SR5 short bed that I've done all the work to with me and a couple buddies.. I recently bought a 2rz with clutch flywheel harness and ecu for $450 couldn't resist.
Here is a list of what I've done to my truck thus far
63 chev springs in rear
rears mixed with ifs rears up front
Ifs steering box
high steer
35" wrangler MTRs
custom home made flat bed made with TREX decking
custom spruce green rattle can paint
LED lights in rear
etc....

when you are starting the conversion, send me a pm, I am over in Hillsboro, I wouldn't mind meeting a fellow local wheeling and seeing how it is going...that is one conversion I am contemplating..

thanks for the replies guys I'm gonna start postin some pics as soon as I can figure that out lol Good news I just sold my old 22r L52 tranny and case gonna start fresh on my drive train... I'm a college student so I'm gonna work on gettin the new motor in as soon as I can with what money I have lol

man that gray one looks a little mingled anybody have a clue what it's for? I know that the two on the left are for my ECU but after that idk I'm still figurin this all out lol

When were you last up on Goat Mountain? I have always wanted to head up there but have heard that most of it has been closed off recently.
There is a guy down is salem that got a $1500 ticket for wheeling up there so I have been a bit gun shy about heading out there...not that I have been able to wheel for the last year that my truck has been under the knife
Heard the wheeling and view up there is great...

the big gray and white plugs are the ones you will have to splice into the truck body harness. ignition1, ignition 2, starter signal for ecu, speed for ecu, constant power, oil and other gauges, odb2 wire. it is not to bad to figure out. toyota made it easier by having that harness come though the same opening as the plugs that go right to the ecu. the two big plugs have wires coming from the ecu and the motor sensors.

update I picked up a w56 and case today for $250 sorry for the bad pics... I'll get some better ones up hopefully tomorrow The tranny is missin both shift knobs so I ordered a marlin turtle crawler nob for the case and I need to find a new shifter for the trans.

update I've got the motor mounted using the stock mounts cutting an inch of the back of both bolting them to the motor/blocks mounts then setting the motor back in the engine bay and checking all my clearances and adjusting the tilt on the motor to factory tilt. Then I tacked the mounts on, pulled the motor and burned them in fully and threw some rubberizzed undercoating lol I've just ordered all the parts for the t100 oil pan conversion from shopTRD.com they seemed to have the best price on the web.... I also ordered a bellhousing stiffner plate, throttle position sensor and already recieved flywheel bolts from lcengineering will post some pics when I get a better camera

so i was just looking at my ecu plugs and I only count 8 and 13 pins across on the two plugs that are there which means according to this diagram http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=19275.30 are plugs E7 and E8. Does anybody know plugs E5 and E6 are required for the swap?

plug e5 is very important, it has the main 12v source. e6 has various sensor wires that the ecu needs. i recommend getting your wire harness through the firewall and making your mount for the ecu before you worry about what the wires do. i made a decent hole in the firewall and bolted in the large engine harness plate. the two mangled plugs i personnally cut off and spliced into my factory ecu harness. how perfect do you want the swap to be? if your goal is no check engine light, that means hooking up more wires. the 2rz and 3rz ecu needs to see a speed signal and a starter signal or it will throw a light, egr must be fuctional or remove the vaccuum from the controls and solder in a 9.4k to 10k resistor in the harness of the egt sensor in the intake manifold, after unplugging the sensor, and lastly did you get the emissions box and control solinoids. that was the worst part in my opinion, getting it to fit. the emissions control is the only wire coming from the ecu that originally went all the way to the driverside through the firewall. it took me a while but finally i have drove my swap 800 miles with no cel. my truck is a 93 and my motor is a 97 2.7.
