Looking for new leaf springs...

Greetings all. What I currently have on my 80 is a rough country 3" spring all the way around. Of course, the rear springs are short which makes the back end hop around like a horse buggy. I'm trying to find shorter/lower springs that just ride better. This truck might see a dirt road on the way to the fishing hole, so performance isn't a must. I've been eyeing the OME 2" springs for a 79-85 4 runner, but wonder if they'll actually match up. Any ideas, or alternatives?

How about a pic of your truck? Why not stock springs from a wrecking yard and throw a bail of straw in the back? sounds like you want a 2015 caddy ride in a old ,,,....

Wow that's a beautiful truck, people say that the ome springs are the nicest riding lift spring (that's all relative) but if you look at kawazx6's build thread in the build up section you can see that you might need to relocate your rear shackle mounts. Why most lift springs are like that I have no idea..

Ooh, that's in nice shape.

You're in NOLA? They have snow there?

A stock first-gen is going to ride stiff pretty much regardless of what rear springs you have. There's just too high a ratio of unsprung to sprung weight. Longer springs seem to be softer, and people say the 63" Chevy springs ride great. My almost-stock longbed rides acceptably for my standards, which I'd say are medium-high (I come from BMW's).

The truck is back in Georgia. The US Navy thought I'd be better suited in New Orleans. I'd bring the truck here, but the roads down here would KO the truck for good.

I wouldn't worry; these trucks were made for places that make NOLA-quality pavement look like the Autobahn.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the posting of Pic, Looks Great!!! Why were you hidding it from us,lol. Lov the color and decal layout, super sharp. If its not dirt, watch that rust on rear wheel, it'll sneak up on your cool chrome wheels to make um gold,

I need to work on my Nissan's chrome wheels
