Our '81 we bought new from Universal Motors in Anchorage. Took it home on Christmas Eve 1980, so in about 3 weeks we will have had it 35 years.
Wow! That is awesome! Not a lot of people can claim 35 years of ownership. It is like a member of the family
I was in Anchorage in the 90's when I was stationed at Ft Richardson. I wish I could move back
I almost forgot to post this video that I took while driving truck. Please disregard the whiny input shaft bearing when I shift - it needs to be replaced soon. She gets up and goes pretty well for a 33 year old four banger and I'm not even getting into her too hard either - I didn't check the tach, but I better I hardly hit 3,000 RPM before shifting.
Oh, and my exhaust also doesn't sound that ricey at all either - the video makes it sound kind of like a Honda Civic with coffee can muffler. It stays relatively throaty through the RPM range.
[QUOTE=Alexl;52292615]Well, I joined the club with a 2.2D dual cab lux!!! Can't wait to get started with all the work it needs to bring it up to scratch!
I no longer own this truck but it was my first car and I had it for almost 20 years, and my dad did before me. Hurt to sell but growing family needs required it. Picked up a 4Runner I'm currently working on, but that's a story for another post.
In no particular order of stages in life:
OG when I got it from Dad, circa 1998. I miss that truck.
Bought from a friend for a song April 2015. Drove the Mojave road 9 days later.
Bone stock. I even have the floor mats that it came with it. Original 22r that
likes to use a little oil. Have an engine on order from an outfit in Chico.
I would like to put an old man emu 2 1/2 inch lift under it. Wondering if any one
has some pictures of one of these with a comparable lift?
I do not want to go too crazy on modifications. This truck is a peach and I want to drive it forever!
As it is I sold my other truck after I had not driven it for three months
after I got this one. This is my daily driver.
Heck I was 12 in November 1982 when this thing rolled off the assembly
line. Kind of a reminder of my kidhood!
