TY....yes,I'll get some pics of the interior and post them....it's insides are trashed right now because today I'm installing "chicken" lights under the dash and kick panels with lighted jewel switches out of a 50's B model Mack truck w/the old school stainless housing...a Bearcat 350a scanner and a Galaxy 99 CB....also trying to build an extension for my shifter so I have the shifter ball(blue metalflake no less : ) ) even with my shoulder.

If I had any sense I guess I'd start me a build up thread so everyone can watch this thing turn into a real freak

My 81.. I think it was an 81, I never had a title for it and only had it for a few months.

Here's my '79 longbed. Just got it a couple days ago. I know the motor was rebuilt in '93. The head reads 22r though, so I imagine they swapped one onto the 20. Is there any easy way of determining this?

So I bought this truck 100% stock 10 years ago. All it needed was door pannels and carpet, other than that pretty clean truck. Had it up on 38.5 14.50 TSL SX's before I left for the Army in July 2004. I left the now dubed "Ol' Blue" in my friends field with a grenaded engine for the next 5 or so years. Went and got her Oct 2009, and went to work.

I installed the following, 7" Sky Jacker springs/shocks, 5.29 Detroit front, 5.29 Spool in the rear, bob'd the bed, dual t-cases, dual case cross member, Cross over steering, 10.2:1 Keith Black HP 22r, and 37 13 Boggers. Oh, and of course a fresh coat of paint.

If it's a 20R with a 22R head, it will be a gutless turd. The 22R has a bigger combustion chamber therefore the engine would have no compression. The part that has the sticker on it is just the valve cover, that is interchangable. You could always run the numbers on the side of the block, that should tell you for certain what it is.

Sweet thanks guys. I found the numbers, it's a 22r for sure. Now I just have to wait and save up some more scratch so I can start tinkering on her!

When you're ready I can get you stuff (weber, header, new engine, rebuild kits). I'm trying to get a small business off the ground working on these engines, so Let me know.

good point, didn't even think of that to be honest but it is a simple way to tell head wise anyways.

20 or 22 block

I don't have a pic but the 20r and 22r have different timing pointers next to the balancer. When I bought my '83 it had a 22r head and a 20r block. It was a turd. I thought it was all 22r until I broke the timing chain and had to open it up. I heard the 22r block and 20r head combo is good.

Thanks.....
I have to say, I love this rig. Did a recent road trip from Denver to Fruita for a mountain bike race, set the cruise control @ 78mph, crushed 1/2 the larger rigs up the pass, did a little wheeling after the race, headed back all on 34 gallons of gas. Got to love 410hp
