you dont want an automatic 4 cyl.

Way under powered. plus the manual will grow on you and you wont want an automatic anymore =-0

Some 2wd 79-83's were auto, right? I mean if you're handy, you can do anything. Swap in a Chevy 350 with an auto transmission. But no, unless somebody's already done the modifications, you won't find a 4wd auto first gen Toyota. Which, in my opinion, is as it should be

thanks, The interior was gone, the floor was swiss cheese. but ask any Trekker owner who has tried to sell a restored Trekker...Not much interest in them, they don't command any particular value.
The 'ultimate restored trekker' that was done by Jack Safro's son took forever to sell. It started at $30K and sold for about $22K. The guy in seattle that bought it ended up taking a huge hit when he sold it.
People love them but I have seen for sale threads go from $2500 down to $1200 with people practically giving them away for 'builder/project/restorable" trucks" Lot of tire kickers
Bought the truck with the original intention of using it

Hey Robb I have to agree with you.. I have a pretty penny in my truck and its far from worth 10-15K, not to mention 20K like the trekker. Granted the trekker is a rare truck, it's still not "worth" 20K. I worked hard on restoring my truck to original condition, for me, no to sell it, or have it as an investiment. Maybe someday it'll be worth that but right now it's a weekend driver and a friend. Ultimately you need to built a rig to your tastes and usually it won't be to original stock condition for the simple fact that it's expensive.
