Im gonna be doing 5:29s here soonbecause the stock 3:90s are terrible but cant decide between 33s or 35s. i dont want to cut the truck up too much but will be doing 63s and RUFs. Should i need to do anyt other upgrades or will i be able to run 35s without having to upgrade everything else? also im gonna cut the valience off but wanna keep the stock front bumper. How did everyone else cut theirs? i need ideas!

Found this little truck on CL and swooped her up. Was an old man's camping rig and was found through an estate sale. 64k on the odometer and don't think it has turned over, the pedals tell the real story. Runs good, sounds strong, little transmission bearing noise with clutch out and a few gears are a little noisy too. Plan to fix her up a bit for a trail, camping, fishing and carrying the dirty bike for a ride up in the hills.

^^clean truck but 79-81 only have a 5 digit odometer. .
Could be 64k, 164k, 264k etc..most of them have rolled over at least once. ..

This is my 82 short bed that I got for $800. When I got it it had only 98,000 miles on it. The body was pretty straight and the whole car had little to no rust all the way around with exception of some body panels where the paint had fallen off and had a very thin layer of surface rust. These pictures were taken right after I finished painting it and getting it all back together. I go into further detail about everything in my build thread here https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f197...estore-294447/

Just picked this guy up yesterday. New to the forum. One of these trucks has been on my list of "must own's" for a while. It already had a 22re in it from a 95 (supposedly). Couldn't say no. needs some work but runs real strong.

I'm looking for some background info on it since the guy who sold it to me was the uncle of the kid who did all the work. If anyone knows anything about it, a PM would be greatly appreciated.

Looks like a decent truck, and a nice sunny day in Oregon. What part of Oregon are you in? I just spent 4 days in Portland.

My 81 pickup. I've owned it for about 2 months now and I love this thing. I'm the 2nd owner it came from prescott Az and I completely rust free. I have big plans for this truck.

Ruby Milagro

My '83. Got her a few months ago. Her name is Ruby Milagro.

2" lift, Rebuilt and overbored 22r, Weber carb, 33x12 tires (they rub a lil at full turn). Runs like a tractor. Makes me so happy.

Planning to continue to fix her up, but trying to keep it mostly stock. I'm super new to wrenching on trucks; part of the reason I got her was to learn more.

Cheers,

J

Thank you I've put a lot of time into it and surprisingly not so much money but only because I am the only one who has touched it since I bought it as the bucket it was for $500. It means a lot to me when people comment and appreciate it especially when they know about these trucks and can understand the amount of time and effort I put into her. But here's the kicker.... I'm probably $2,500 into it total. Not bad for a baller on a budget whip. I've actually had a couple people come up to me and asked me if I want to join their car clubs... LOL that's a first for me.

81 short bed play rig

Never use lock right lockers or you'll end up like me changing out a third on the trail

I give it the rest of this weekend and she will be out of the shop

I'm working on building my yota up I have the dual cases all set up and ready to drop in. 5:29 gears, full Exo cage 22r on propane locked in the rear. I just bought a 94 Land Rover that has high pinion e-lockers front and rear... so it looks like I'll need to buy some new 5:29 V6 gears And set up kits. But for now I just wanna play in the thing so I'm gunna put it together and get some use out of her!
