Well I went and purchased the Toyota yesterday. Drove it back the 420km without a problem. I also got the original owners manual and service manual. It was pretty awesome finally being able to drive it, after dreaming about it all these years. The owner still had my original note I put on the truck, bugging him to sell it to me, from 10yrs ago! LOL! I'll clean it up and post a few pics of it soon. Thanks.
KRCCMAX, nice work! We need to find you some chrome headlight doors to match that chrome grille ASAP! Is that a factory grille? And what gas pedal did you use? It looks similar to my 2000 Taco pedal modification
KAWAZX636, The gas pedal is out of a 88 Toyota. My original pedal was toast so i just used one out of the 88 Toyota. I just cut it down and used the top portion of the 82 with the lower part of the 88. And a little bending. I do remember reading about the gas pedal and maybe it was from you. I have found so much from this forum and others. The dash pad is glassed and I found out about that on here somewhere also. Everything lines up with no binding. Everything you seeis original minus the head light buckets and lower valance. I would have used them also but they were about to fall apart. So what you see is what I had.

Secondly, I sent a couple PM's but no reply yet, so I'm going to post it right here. Hopefully not breaking any rules.
Anyhow... I was wondering if anyone knows what's up with the line coming off the Catalytic Converter and leads into the bottom of the cab, assuming its some sort of sensor? Question is I need to drop the exhaust for a repair and don't know how to disconnect without just flat out cutting it. It goes from a steel housing on the Cat to a rubber housing to under the cab, but can't figure out how to disconnect it. If I cut it, will effect passing smog? Or is it an indicator for the engine light on the dash? I'm in the worst city for smog test, SoCal. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Mine's been gone for a long time but there SHOULD be a disconnect under the seat. It may be under the carpet/floor mat. Seems like maybe it was under the sheet metal that the front of the seat bracket bolts to. Disconnect, open up the 1 wire hold down "thingie", and pop the rubber grommet out of the floor pan. Then you can drop the exhaust with the wire attached to your cat.
Not sure how it will affect smog, but being downtown Commiefornia, I would try to keep it intact.

My father-in-law lives in QLD and he sends me pictures all the time of trucks I can't get in the US - especially the new Land Cruiser pickups. If Toyota sold their diesels in the US they would absolutely dominate the mid-size truck market here. Perhaps that's why they keep them out - Chevy, Ford and Dodge would go out of business!

Not sure if I ever posted an 82 I restored a few years back. It was in rough condition when I got it but was solid and rust free. Weber carb, 33's with 4.88 gearing. The owner was getting ready to send it to the crusher when I got a hold of it. Some interior work, body, paint work. I did have to replace the passenger fender and hood. Replaced motor.
Nice Terry! Quick question for you, how well did the 22R turn those 33s with the 4.88 gears?? My engine and stock 4.10 gears handle the 31s I have now really well, but I think I may bump up to 33s and re-gear it next spring as long as I can maintain the performance I have now.
Thanks Dave.. If you go from 31's with 4.10s and then switch to 33's with 4.88s, I don't think you will notice the difference in power. It is like keeping everything balanced. The truck ran great for a 22r and I did not feel like I was driving a slug, it ran really well. I think you will like the 33/4.88 setup.
