blow by

hey people havnt made a thread on here for awhile.

I have a 1979 that i just recently got, its got a 20r and im worried about the blow by.

it has a lot of oil coming out of the hose that goes from the top of the valve cover to the top of the air filter lid. something i think is odd though is if i take off the oil cap(not running) the cap is all dry on the inside i would think it would be wet with oil( all my other toyotas have been) so what do you guys think the problem is?

I could take pics if anyone thinks that would help but i think i explained it well enough.

Seems a little strange to me that your oil cap is dry but the breather hose is pulling oil . That breather hose does have a slight vacuum going through it, but shouldn't be enough to pull oil.

Has the baffle on the valve cover been removed? Is the PCV valve clogged?

You can check blow-by by taking off the oil can and flipping over on the oil filler hole. It should be able to sit there on its own and not "levitate" from the pressure in the valve cover

I would make sure that the baffle in the valve cover is still in there.
