Carb vacuum ports?

1979 Toy P/U 20R 2wd.

Ive been having a real High idle. I was wondering if old mushy vacuum line caught in my carb vacuum line inlets could cause this. When I took my old lines off I notice some parts of my old vacuum hoses clogging my inlets. I tried to pick them out but think I made it worse by pushing stuff in. How do I clean this out or does it matter.

Keep in mind this truck sat for 10 years without being cranked. two weeks ago it purred and last week gas pedal stuck to floor and scared the mess out of me like it was gonna blow. Today it ran but still idling to high.

My also has a high idle. I've adjusted it a few times to correct the problem, but it's back to running a bit too high. I plan to get a weber and eliminate everything that isn't necessary in the engine bay to keep it simple.
