AAL's and a new bumper

last week i started out by tossing in a set of AAL's out back so it didn't have the pre-runner look, and also to help battle my severe axle wrap problem. i got 2.5-3" out of the AAL. a little more than i expected, but ok.

spring wrap is still noticable but not near the extent as before. and now the rear rides as stiff as the front.

next was replacing the bumper with something that is a little more useful until i can have one custom made. it is just chrome plated aluminum, but the pitting was so bad i worked it over with the wire brush and then attacked it liberally with rustoleum. a little cutting and drilling of the stock bumper mounts and it fit right up.

its not the strongest, but worlds better then the flimsy stock unit.

Al

Your truck looks really nice. I wish mine was still so shiny! Good looking bumper. My truck must have never regularly carried heavy loads, because I have no sag at all in the rear springs.

Your truck is really looking good... It's very cool... almost as cool as mine! (just kidding, yours is probably cooler) The Add a Leaf + bumper are good visual improvements as well as functional. Wierd, slightly off topic question - I noticed your long bed has three hooks along each side of the bed, for some reason my long bed is missing the center hook- no chop marks either. Has anyone noticed the varied hook quantity as well?

NiCE ..

you might wanna check my post https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f114...75/index6.html

..

on this page you'll see some "kicker" shocks .. they work awesome for spring wrap .. not as harch as a traction bar ..

i've noticed a few trucks around here with extra or missing hooks too. i figured they were welded on from the factory. i wouldn't mind 2 more on the tailgate.

thanks everyone for the complements, i just wish the paint looked as good in person less than 10 feet away. one of the projects will be sending it in to be repainted again... but probably not until next year. the next project is the suspension (a couple weeks away), then i'm doing the interior and propane (dual fuel) conversion.

funny how the project grows and grows....

interesting setup slacker, never seen anything like that before.

i'm not too concerned with the little bit of wrap i have now, and once i rework the suspension in a few weeks it will have chevy 63's and a anti-wrap bar to 100% kill it.

Not sure how much you want the extra hooks but last time I was at the Sherwood U Pull It off 99w (2 weeks ago getting junk for my Tercel) there were 2 or 3 79-83 2WD trucks you could probably snag the bed hooks from i you had a cordless sawzall. I was able to cut the floor out of one of them

truck is looking good...
