'83 seats

Can anyone tell me seat bolt spacing?

Can anyone recommend comfortable drop-in compatible seats -
ie other Toyota models ? Bucket seats I might pick up at a local wrecker?
thanks!

Put whatever seats you like that fit on the Toyota seat base.

I had z28 seats in my 79 yota.

Dropzone's got a great list of mods with links stickied on the top of the forum, including a few seat discussions.

edit: it looks like the first seat discussion begins on post #25.

I searched on other forums and threads. I actually have a list of seats I am willing to try in my 87 toyota pickup. Tomorrow Ill go to the junkyard and pick some up. Getting rid of the old bench style seats.

Good luck!
From my own experiences and what I've read around the 'web, basically anything that fits a compact car will fit these trucks. If you hang out in the compact/import cars section of the yard and find seats you really like, they should probably work.
Personally, I think Ford makes some of the best seats I've ever rested my lazy arse in and they seem to last a while, too.

That's what I'm picking up --- ford ranger seats. If I have to mock them up I will. I'm sure I can get them too fit. I went to the junk yard today ,

Ha! That's what I ended up with, too!
I'm planning on trimming the uprights to bring them down an inch or two.
As far as installing them goes, you can bolt them into the stock crossbeam up front, but the rears have to be bolted onto a piece of plate steel that then bolts into the stock mounting nutserts, that way you're not drilling holes in the floor.

The cool thing about the ranger seats is that they have a big torx bolt on their sides that the belt buckles mount onto. It helps to locate the buckle up high to compensate for how tall the seat bases are.

Best seats I've ever owned.

I think you and I have chosen different seats. I'll post up some pictures tomorrow. I went to the junk yard without any torx bolts...wished I would have brought them, but tomorrow at 8 I plan to go get them.

Could be, I grabbed the 60/40 split bench with the flip-down center console/ center hump seat back. Doggy rumble seat.

Today I went to go pick up the ranger junk yard seats and the guy wanted $200. I was able to talk him down to $100 but that's still too high for me.

$100 is pretty good, you'd be hard pressed to beat that with almost anything else.
I paid $200 for mine, but they were like showroom condition, the truck basically got wrecked right off the lot, and the dismantlers pulled them and stored them in a warehouse. Considering the seats had maybe another fifteen years left before they start to feel worn out, I thought 200 was a deal.

Maybe I should have grabbed them. They weren't stock seats rather racing seats in a Ford ranger. Nice and deep black

Oh, then a hundred bucks was a decent deal for racing seats.
That said, having had racing seats in my truck briefly, I hated them.
They went in easy enough, but they weren't comfortable at all, and their Kevlar weave material just gave me the worst sweat and chafing discomfort ever.
Not all racing buckets suck, though. Mine were just junky APC seats.

Well I didn't want both seats just one and he wouldn't separate. So I'm going to look for some...at other places
