22re engine swap
I have an 82 yota with an 86 22re motor. I'm running 37 inch tires and its pretty slow on the freeway, and I was wondering if putting a 6 cylinder in it would help at all, and if so what kind of motor should I put in? I just got my yota a couple weeks ago and its my second vehicle ever, so im still pretty green to all this.

if nothing else just rebuild a more powerful 22re, there are alot of upgrades for these motors out there, and in my opinion if your gonna swap motors you may as well go all out and put a v8. i am rebuilding a 22r for my 82 in the garage so when i go to swap it will be out with the old in with the new no changing motor mount locations and stuff. just out and in of course its gonna take time cause getting the new to be in tip top running condition takes time. but i use it as a daily driver so i cant have it down for too long at one time and i dont want to loose the gpms of that stout 4cyl. eventually ill have a 302 in it but for now just a beefed up 22r. CARB'ed not EFI, i dont like electronics lol.

I like the higher ratio diff's idea, never even thought about that. I also like the idea of beefing up the 22re because gas is a huge factor, and the 22re's are bulletproof. Thanks for the info!

You guys are awesome, and its a 22r not a 22re haha sorry about that. And would I need to get the same ratios on both my front and rear diff's?
