which one did you get eric? im in the market for one too as my strata probably wont allow air compressors to run tools. but i dont want to spend the 4-5 bills that dewalt & snap on wants. 150-200 ft lbs would be ideal. anything more and the breaker bar comes out...

This one from Canadian Tire, wait till it's on sale, which is every couple of months. I think I got mine for half price.

I picked up a dewalt dw059 18v over xmas off ebay pretty cheap. Its such a great tool and can take lug nuts off in no time. If you go cordless get a spare battery.

That's the one I got because Eric recommended it to me more than a year ago. I've seen that one as low as $50 CDN. It typically goes on sale for about $100.

I don't know...this one is probably crap but 240 ft. lbs. torque for $50 shipped seems reasonable

I carry one of these in the truck, they work surprisingly well for the few times I have used it:
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=92349

Have used them to break idler arm bolts and lug nuts loose and has worked fine for that, a little slow, but excellent impact torque. I did have to open mine up and tune it up a little when I got it. The dog clutch was not set up quite right, but easy enough to disassemble is and shuffle the washers around to get it spinning freely.

I mainly use an air impact gun, but for something quick, I can pull this out and break a few nuts loose before the air compressor fills the tank.

On the trail a cordless impact gun would be really handy though!
could have used a cordless one at Paragon huh Marc

I have a CORDED DeWalt that I got from Home Depot
and
two cordless ones
-- Milwaukee monster 28v
-- Panisonic (ferget model LiON)

The corded one I got after the air compressor kept tripping the breaked in my parents hose (lets not go into that - I checked the outlet with a SureTest and get a 10% drop - eek)

Its heavy and unweildy. It WILL Take off stuck lug nuts etc (center axle nuts on a MKII VW anyone) but you stand there with yer finder on the trigger and make a racket for oh 60 seconds or more) Still - in come cases ya cant use a breaker bar (that center axle nut - the car just moves or the trans spins etc).

Still - its better than nothing.

The cordless ones I got are NOT cheap ones.
The Panisonic costs more than most (I vaguely recall what - $250+?)
Its a life saver for stuff around the house (phillips head screws anyone) and handy on smaller nuts and bolts because its smaller than the Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee I got for use in Junkyards... cant run a compressor there..
It works better than the corded Dewalt!
I coulda never got my mangled VW trans apart w/o it
