You know I'm just playin', Brett. I know everyone's got more important things to do than mail/post vids. I just REALLY wanna see me doin' Slickrock again, as well as all the other footage I couldn't see from over somebody's shoulder at camp. LOL

Assuming he likes my pics and write-up, one of the first issues will have an article on our Tellico trip.

Yeah, I did Slickrock in Prerunner mode................... NOT! LOL!!

Actually, I'd just gotten off the gas, so Ernie and Chris could make sure I wasn't doing serious harm to anything important, and the smoke was still clearing from my gratuitous burnout. I expected the smoke to clear more quickly, and got concerned for a second that I'd overheated the engine or something.

Alright computer guru's I need your help. I got a new computer and there is a problem with the camcorder software. Why is this important?-b/c I can't burn the videos from last weekend until I get it figured out.

It will let me download from the video card, but not the tape and all the video is on tape since it's too large for my video card. When I try to get video from the tape, it never reckognizes the camcorder.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the sony imagemixer program twice. On installation it throws up a popup about having the wrong winaspi? It then gives me an option to install the correct one, but warns that might screw up something else. So I installed the correct one-tried it w/o installing it and that didn't work either. Then later on there was a popup about the software or something not being cleared or something to work with XP? yes-I know I should have written down exactly what it said, but forgot and it hasn't come up again. Anyway, need help, anyone got an idea about what it might be? or is my description of the problem too lame?

I would suggest going to sony's website and checking to make sure you have the latest version of the software. I had the same issue with a different software/camera on my father-in-law's computer with XP. Just went to the web, downloaded newest version and all was good.

Maybe yours will be that simple?

No not yet, I'm trying the sony websites now.

Edit: I have downloaded and installed every update for my camera and software from Sony. Nothing works-no combination of installing, uninstalling software and usb drivers works. I can download from the video card but when trying to download from the tape it doesn't work-it never reckognizes the camcorder. Upon trying to install software, I get an error message that says my software from Sony (disc that came with the camera and worked fine with ME and Windows 2000 and says will work with XP)(I have XP on this new computer) has not passed Windows Logo Testing to verify its compatability with Windows XP. It goes on to say that windows strongly recommends stopping the install b/c it may cause the computer to not function right either now or at a later date. Ideas?

Brett, I have the same problem with mine. I can only upload from the tape to my memory card, and then to my computer. It really sucks. I have the same exact problem, but if you figure it out, please let me know, because all my videos end of up being only 1:30 max, because I have such a small memory card.

How do you do that? I didn't know you could upload from the tape to the card?
Are you using XP?
Has yours always been like that or did you just switch to XP?

I have a 64 mb card now, maybe I'll just get a 1g card and say screw the tape. Wonder how much video will go on a 1g card?

I've got the normal card that comes with it, which isn't much. You basically, it's in the directions on how to do it, and I don't have my camera to see how to do it for sure. If you had a large enough memory card, it would be fine to do it that way.

Uninstall everything pertaining to the camera (all software), restart your computer, now plug the camera up and then turn it on. Windows XP should recognize the connection and give you a choice as to what you want to do. You should get a prompt and one of the choices should be “Microsoft Scanner and Camera Wizard”, Double left click on that and just follow the steps.

Let me know if It works or doesn’t.

EDIT: Chris give it a try too.
