Pics will be up soon and there was much carnage. Chris (ravencr) broke a cv axle, dented the driver side rear quarter on slickrock and also at schoolbus and broke a rear upper suspension link. Rick (synovus) broke his rear taillight and dented his passenger front quarter and almost peeled off his front bumper on slickrock and bent his driveshaft on schoolbus. Ernie (firetaco) dented his front passenger quarter, broke his turn signal, smashed the corner of his hood, peeled off part of his fender flare and wheelwell-all on slickrock. Mark (zman2day) broke a shock on his '85 at schoolbus. John (hyperlite) dented his drivers side rear quarter and broke the drivers side cargo area window on schoolbus. Greg (yotaman) almost peeled off his rear bumper while playing at fains ford. Scott (sherpa) dented his passenger side rocker panel so bad that the door would not open.

Will (seaflea), Rick (synovus), Mark (zman2day), Ernie (firetaco) and Chris (ravencr) all conquered slickrock without winching! Chris (ravencr), John (hyperlite), Jeff (redplastic), Johns friend with the Tacoma?, Mark (zman2day), and Rick (synovus) all tackled schoolbus, but I'm not sure who all made it all the way up-I'm sure one of them can tell that story better than me since I wasn't on that trail.

Sherpa, synovus, firetaco, turboale and a soon to be signed up Jeep guy took some amazing pictures and video that will be posted as soon as thay can get through all of it. I also have video of everyone that conquered slickrock that I will burn to disc and mail to someone to post.

This was the best southeast get together so far!

Awsome shots Dave, I'll be getting mine up as soon as I get the Runner cleaned out and some laundry started. It took me 3 hours of laying under the rig to clean out all the mud from Trail 8, that hole was awsome. I thin we all got some carnage from this trip, there were only a few rigs that left without damage. I almost lost a rear fender flare, and I put a couple new dents in my rear bumper, I put some gouges in the side of my fender flare right before it came off after a slide into the wall of the mud hole.

This was the best jam ever, and what a turn out with nothing but the best people. Even all the people we encountered on the trails were realyl nice and willing to help where they could. I can't wait to do this again. :drink:

dragr1 05-15-2005 03:49 PM

The only carnage I got was very minor, one of my rear lower control arms is bent pretty good. Guess it's time to weld some angle iron on it.

On an odd note, I dinged my gas tank again and now my fuel gauge seems to read accurate? Before this trip I could only squeeze in 14 gallons with the fuel light on. When I got home I filled back up at just over 1/4 tank and it held 14.7 gallons-guess that ding might have done some good?

Man, these pics are awesome! I have to personally thank everyone that hiked miles this weekend taking pics and vids of our rides. I know I really appreciate it, because I totally forgot my camera this trip, unfortunately. If people want to send me CD's of their pics and vids, I'll post all of them on one compiled page on my website if you guys want. In fact, I could easily start a running section on my site that can start all the way back to the original trip we did, if you guys think that would be cool??

Chris

Cool pics, guys!

However, Ive noticed at least 2 rigs without sliders. With all the carnage from this trip, I would assume sliders would be mandatory on these trails.

I'm sure those of you who had body damage are looking at some more protection for the future, right?

I think they should be but you can get away without them if you have a good spotter and take it easy. Scott (sherpa) found out that no sliders and no spotter will definately get you in trouble. his passenger side door is not able to be opened because of the damage to the rocker pannel. :eeek:

Stegall984R 05-15-2005 05:13 PM

I went sliderless this weekend.

Will's right. you need a spotter. I didnt get a slingle scratch this weekend, but i creeped over every thing and had a spotter w/ me at all times.

Who got pics of the school bus group ?!? post them up !!

dragr1 05-15-2005 05:14 PM

Jeepguy and stegall, those pics are awesome! Keep 'em coming!

Stegall, sorry you guys had to leave early, but I wouldn't want to sleep in a rain soaked tent either. Hope you guys will be at the next event.

CruisinGA 05-15-2005 05:28 PM

Whats up guys, I'm the kid with the white FJ40 that met up with about 10 of yall on trail 8 saturday afternoon.

Ya'll had just missed a show- 5 minutes before ya'll caught up to us on 8 I'd just laid the 40 on its side. :bigok:

Had a great time wheeling with yall, will be checkin back here to see when yall will be back up at Tellico. I hope a cruiser is welcome with yall... hell the 80 is just a bigger 'runner with SFA :D

Someone (guy with beige gen III runner) had a video camera rollin on on me running through that hole, I want to see it!!

Got to go fix the truck- goin back up day after tomorrow for GSMTR (Great Smoky Mountain Trail Ride- TLCA event)

Oh yeah, I'm fixing my parking brake tonight.... :chair:

JeepGuyXJ 05-15-2005 05:31 PM

Andy went the whole trip w/o slidders. If ya pick the right line then your straight and don't have to worry about it. all about trusting your spotter that being me most of the time.

I think i might be building him some for his truck here soon. he wants some pretty bad.
