I may be able to help you out on the regear. I have looked into the e-locker and you will have to order the install kit for regearing (which is $200 through Marlin If he hasnt gone up in price) and the gears will cost around the same.
I have a friend that has set up many rear ewnds and he said he would charge $300 to do one. I will see him tonight and can ask him for sure if he will do it.

My buddy will do it for $150 at the most here in Knoxville, TN if you're interested. He's going to do mine here as soon as I can get some 5.29 gears.

I'm not sure I follow. I looked on marlins site and I didn't see anything about a re-gear kit. I was under the impression I just buy the gears and get them installed. What’s included in the re-gear kit?

You need the gears plus it's recommended that you also get the Master Install Kit, then labor to install it all.

OK. I follow now. I'm interested in the re-gearing as soon as I find out how much for the e-locker.

"master install kit" provides new bearings, gaskets, and gear marking compound for setting the contact pattern. I think it should also come with the different shims to set the location of the pinion. the bearings comprise most of the cost. I'm going to try to setup my own gears this next time. I did a drop in locker (lock-right) install with no problems and the inner workings of the diff arent that complicated. Getting the pinion/ring gear contact pattern is the hardest step.

Master install kit is almost a must, you will most surely mess up the pinion bearing when it is removed. Greg, better start looking for 4.88's now, they are very hard to come by at this time.

I got mine from Marlin. there are other places that are cheaper, but their service and customer support is great. Look for Andy (bamachem) he just ordered gears from somewhere else and they were a little cheaper.

they are in Bogart, GA according to the website. I've never personally bought from them yet, but thats where i plan on making my gear/install kit purchase. They are a regular vendor on Pirate4x4 and have always gotten good reviews that i've seen. Good prices too, call them and the pricing is usually better than advertised on the net. Mention Pirate4x4 too.

I got 2 used sets. I guess I could use them if nothing else. One set would be out of my rear 3rd and if needed I can get a 3rd with 4.88's that has 70,000 or so miles on it.

Just remember the pinion and ring gear have to be a matched set, you can't mix and match them.

Matt, (Custom Cruiser) won't let me have the keys to the shed if I sell the third. He says he is gonna regear it and remove the spooled 3rd from his 2nd gen. Sorry guys, but if he keeps bull ÅÅÅÅting than it will go up for sale in a month.

Well that kind of sux!!! I was hopping to get this in soon. Guess the search continues. Let me be the first to know if you do decide to sell it. I got a 2 wheel drive 4Runner (my moms) that could use a locker.

Are you asking me if I want to buy a spool and 4.88 gears?

EDIT: Let's say you did want to sell the e-locker. How much would you ask for it?
