Ok. so I asked this in the wrong place earlier but i still would love help in the subject. Does anyone have any idea's about how to get better gas milage. Gas is 4.15 here in siskiyou county and trying to even get to the offroad (which is usually only like 5 miles here) is getting ridiculous.

Drive slower, take off slower. For work I drive a loaded E350 van, I noticed that if I take off gradually rather than give it skinny pedal from light to light I got ALOT of extra mpg. So much so that I went from 1/2 a tank getting 140 miles to over 180.. THATS 40 MILES!

Also try to coast alot, dont worry about traffic, go your own speed and keep off the pedal if you can.

Only take trips you have to, dont run down to the store 5x in one day.

But really, I found driving like grandpa got me way better mpg.

yah i found that to be the case also. I'm planning on custom making a cold air intake for the truck and also putting in a throttle body spacer in it. not sure which brand yet. I've also been riding my bike a whole lot. What are gas prices where everyone elsi is it seems like ours is always like 20 to 50 cents more than everywhere else.

Almost $5 per US gallon up here, and I was paying over $9 in Scotland at Christmas.

I wouldn't waste your money on a throttle body spacer, spend it on gas instead. On fuel injected engines, especially port fuel injected, they do absolutely nothing, except may be lighten your wallet a bit. And from reading on here most people don't get better mileage from a cold air intake, they usually get worse as they like to step on it to hear the sound.

Not much more I can suggest. Maybe try getting things done early in the morning or late at night. The air will be more dense, and thus you may see increases. Also, during those times there is less traffic.

Other than that, plan out and try to "kill 2 birds with one stone" ideas...
Try to save up for a commuter car, that's what I am doing.

I figure like this. My truck gets 13.7mpg. If I buy a little Mazda Miata for like $3k, it gets like 25city-30hwy. That means I can go twice as far, for the same price...

With trucks its hard to improve the aerodynamics which is one of the best things you can do to improve mpg. If you got a roof rack remove it till you need it.

Gas here in San Diego was 3.85 at Costco this morning 5-2-08.

I started taking the bus. thats saving me the most gas mileage!

When from over $250 a month in gas to about $60.
