Plug wires and timing light came in today, I'll go out there after the Nationwide race and see what I got.

Going to set the ignition timing, but my Runner has a 22R hood.

From the other threads I've read timing should be 10 degrees BTDC, idle 700-750rpms

Reminder 3vze 5speed 4X4 90'

use a paper clip and connect the e terminal to the te terminal (check manual for this, some years you must detach a vaccum tube!!!) after this start the truck, put the timing light on the crankshaft, and measure the timing... timing should be 10 degrees BEFORE top dead center (0 degrees) this is at idle (~700) if the engine is turning faster than this, the timing will be different.

Installed the plug wires, checked air gap (0.011),set timing.

Distributor is turned the the limit counter clock-wise, doesn't seem right that it is turned the the limit, but the timing light says that where it should be.

Valves on the left side seem loud to me, making more noise than the right side.

Think I'll pull the valve cover and check the clearances. None of the lifters contain shims.

Seems to me if you grind the seats and valves you would need to grind the stem to make it shorter since the valves would be sitting deeper in the seats.

Pic of distributor before dis-assembly. Turned all the way clock-wise.

I don't think it will pass smog with the amount of smoke it has coming out of the tail pipe.

How about a wicket to jump the terminals, a wicket is what holds your lift ticket to your belt loop.
