Brake pressure/pedal problems

So, As everyone may or may not know, i now own an 84 pickup with a 22R. During the day, as in on my way to work, on my way home for lunch, on the way back to work from lunch, the brakes operate very firmly and responsive with minimal pedal travel. On my way home from work, after 9 pm, the pedal goes about two inches off of the floor, just like if the pads were almost to, but not quite, the end of their life. I have checked the pads and shoes, drums and rotors. Everything is clean and leak free, and also moves as it should. I just cant figure it out at all. Any help would be awesome! (and yes i went through a bunch of brake posts, and nothing matches my issue).

maybe your brake solar collector is going bad. it should be able to absorb enough power to make it through the night.

vaccum leaks in the booster? worn master could let fluid pass the seals?

Never heard of that one before. Bleed them. Adjust the rears. My guess is master cyl.

Make sure you're bleeding the Load Sensing Proportioning Valve (LSPV). My brakes have never felt better after bleeding it. Or, go one step above and replace the stock one with an adjustable valve for $40.

I have been having the same problem with my 85.. my guess was the master cyl, but my dad seems to think the old Autozone pads i bought are the problem.

But now im going to check into the LSPV

Heh, Glad to see im not the only one that slams my seetbelt in the door too.

But i have narrowed my problem down to 4 things (possibly related to yours)

1. Bad pads
2. Im by-passing my master cyl. making my pedal feel spongy
3. My brake fluid is boiling in my master cyl. because its summer
4. Grease from my knuckles is getting onto my rotors making them slippery.

Hmmm. The problem im having is that the pedal is normal during the daylight, as soon as the sun goes down it goes down, to the floor that is. but it still stops. its just impossible to get used to.

When you let up and push back down, does the pressure come back? or does it go back to the floor?

I found out that my knuckle's are leaking grease and flinging that grease onto my rotors. Im gonna have to get a knuckle rebuild kit from Marlin Crawler
