Exclamation Water inlet neck leaking

Hi all, I swapped my t-stat and gasket yesterday, now it's trying to leak again. I swapped another gasket this morning, and it's better, but still making me wonder. I did notice that the cut-out for the t-stat looks like it may have once had a rubber o-ring or something.......could this be part of the problem? Also, trying to remember, the t-stat goes under the gasket right?

I keep thinking that the only explanation is maybe the intake or the inlet neck may be warped?

well a gasket would take up any irregularities. mm I thought gasket was below Tstat. you could try one above and below? Or find n O ring for that groove. Don't yah hate little probs like that

Take your waterneck and a piece of sandpaper and flatten it out. Lay the ~80 grit paper on a FLAT table and carefully sand the water neck til it's level.

I'd use the genuine toyota thermostat and gasket for best results.

my t-stat came with a large rubber O ring that fits around the out side of the t-stat, then install the it, should not leak and if it does then maybe a cracked housing

I just fired it up and took it for a drive, outside of the seal looks a little wet, but not dripping on outside of intake manifold, hopefully won't start leaking anytime soon. I've never gotten a t-stat that comes with the rubber O-ring, interesting.

Oh yeah, just got to watch out for the game warden in the natl. forrests. A lot of the other trails are closed for a few years, such as Teleco
