Fab a filler neck extension or buy one?

I just bought a 4runner with a 3" body lift installed, the rigged the filler neck after the body lift and it leaks gas Can you buy these extensions somewhere or would it be just as easy to cut some rubber hose of some kind and clamp it in?

I don't know what yours is like, but I have bought fuel filler hose and cut it to the length I needed.

Don't use radiator hose.

I just cut the factory hose, added in a piece of steel pipe and put hose clamps on it. Seems to be working for me. I also had to add a spacer where the pipe mounts to the frame.

Don't use anything but fuel hose (something specified to handle gas) or check for a gas filler extension at places like JCWhitney, Summit, JEGS, etc.

Steel pipe is gonna rust like crazy over time when exposed to gas/air and put all that crap/rust/scale in your gas tank and then your fuel filter. Bad idea.

I used a plastic pipe from a radiator hose repair kit. The guy at autozone told me it would not work cause its plastic and the gas would destroy it. I looked at him and the huge stack of PLASTIC gas cans they had on display and told him I would take my chances. No problems so far.

I agree 100%

I generally cut the hose in half and go to the muffler shop and get a piece of pipe cut to fit and then clamp it.

Performance accessories

My PA BL came with a metal filler neck extension. Call them up and see if you can get just that part. Makes sense to do it right.

Just go to carquest and get the length you need. It may be a little more pricey but you'll have the peace of mind not having to worry about it any more.
