mass air flow sensor

anyone know how much one of these will cost me. in the proccess of installing a cold air intake one my 3.0, i got alittle excited and ripped out the plug into the sensor, not knowing i was supposed to romove the wire clip instead of unscrewing the phillips and and yanking her out. soldered it back to gether. ran perfect. but yesterday, i started her up dead within a second. i checked for vacuum leaks, found non. kept trying and on about the 25th try or so she stayed runnin. then i shut it off, started right back up. ran and started perfect all day. but today, no dice. just wouldn't stay running. so i'm assuming the sensor is jacked. local junk yard didn't have any, but i never asked about how much they would cost. I've been told everything from 20 bucks to 500+

Your best bet is gonna be either someone on here, or a junkyard. I think there about 190 from autozone.

Do you have a MAF or VAFM? There is a VAFM on eBay right now.

I'd buy aftermarket. Cheaper, new, and many have a lifetime warranty for a 1/4 of the OEM price w/ no lifetime warranty.

The 3.0 has a AFM, not a MAF.

Ummm... I don't see any mention in there about cold air intakes. Doing a cold air intake is all about getting _cold(er)_ air into the intake which will increase horsepower. That site talks about the K&N filter, which isn't the same thing.

If you (or the poster) are equating a K&N cone to a "cold air intake" then that's a separate issue. If the original poster is talking about one of those add-on boxes, then that's a 3rd issue (it's still not a good cold air intake).

Check the salvageyards, Look into all Toys, There are a few models that use the same one.

Wouldnt you know, I saw one at the cash counter at the last Pic-A-Part I was just at, Thought it funny that I should have picked it up for a spare to, But all I got was my 1st gen rollbar for $25, Sweeeeeet!!!!!

Test out the AFM, likely the fuel pump contact is the one that is causing the engine to die:

I got mine at a junkyard online. Was like 35.00

Try yotayard.com

I wouldn't by a new one, no real point in it.

Well, first off, its not a MAF, those are only about $160, but you have an air flow meter (AFM), closer to about $500!!! Does the check engine light come on with the key on, but engine off? Reply wiht the answer. You might be able to fix it, "might"
