19874Runner SR5 One owner STOCK
UPDATE: Check out this site for the story of 'Brownie.' It's very touching.
http://zigster.home.mindspring.com/b...adv/index.html
So there it is. I rescued this truck from a fella who bought it himself new in Texas and drove it for 365,000 miles. He didn't seem like an extraordinarily mechanically-minded man, or least didn't like to get his hands dirty, so judging by the amazing condition of this thing he had everything done by his Toyota dealership. Even the factory 22RE stickers were still on the front and back of the valve cover.
He recently had a new exhaust system installed (as you can see in the 2nd to last pic), and the paint job is a high-quality one from not even a year ago. Repairs are entirely up to date, it even looks like its got very new U-Joints. The only thing is needs are new tires and supposedly balljoints.
Here's the story: after driving this 4Runner all over the country (lots of highway miles) the headgasket blew. He parked it in his driveway and I bought it from him a month or so later. Since the engine was so old (though running very smoothly) my dad and I decided to just put a new engine in it. We bought a 22RE from a 93 truck that was being parted out. As I understand it, this truck had some issue with its title so it was sold to a guy who parts these out and it had not been driven very much. This was confirmed when we dropped the pan and pulled the valve cover, the engine looks very nice, probably not even 50k on it. Rather than rebuild it, we just cleaned it up and installed new gaskets. Keep in mind, it is only the longblock we are putting into this 87, all of the EFI stuff from the 87 is going back on top of this new block.
There are a few pictures of this new block, with and without the intake stuff on it. Dad and I will probably be putting this engine into the truck this evening, along with a brand new clutch and related parts. We also changed the oil seals front and rear, and it has all new gaskets (minus the HG, we just left that since it was fine). Head bolt torque has been checked, valves adjusted, and when we get this bolted back to the tranny it will be ready to go.
This truck is very very stock! All the ONE owner did was drive it and maintain it. See the chrome rear bumper? Not even a dent.
$3700 OBO will buy you this loaded 4Runner, located in Cumming, GA.

If I had the cash (althought I'd negotiate a lower price first
) I'd drive over today...but unfortunately I am cash poor at the moment with school starting back. Those are the kinda vehicles that last forever.
Don't put it on autotrader, you'll get a lot less money...just be patient and it will sell. That will make some teenager a very nice first vehicle.
FYI: manual hubs that were on my 87 worked perfect and no more front end noise. I'm almost positive it was the POS auto hub clutch mechanism that the PO had left on there when he put on the manual hubs.

I apologize for not updating this sooner, I was in the process of moving back into school and starting class and stuff.
4Runner was sold for a very reasonable price to a very happy buyer.
Shortly we will have another "rescue" for sale - a 94 SR5 V6 4x4.
BTW - How much would a 3.0-auto combo (and engine/tranny pull, that is) go for if it was in good running condition?
