Question Question on the Deck Plate Mod?

I'm new to the site. But I have a Question for the guru's. I just did the deckplate mod and it really seems to help out. I do have a question about water though. What about rain? It's been raining like crazy here and I just was wondering about sucking in water when it's raining. Expecially when following some of these Coal Trucks (state icon) Any thoughts?

Most of us do not put the cap on during rain.

The way I was thinking was the FIPK by K and N is the same open element. It can suck in water just the same. But i wanted to run it past everyone.

Under normal driving conditions, water does not get up around the air box. If you're worried about it, keep it closed and drive it in some weather conditions that you'd think for sure would have gotten water in. Then stop and look and you'll find that all is dry that high off the ground. Now - off-roading is another story all together! Heh-heh!

Ah a fellow Western PA Runner owner! Welcome aboard. I have the FIPK you mentioned and have not had a problem with water. The deckplate protects the filter better than the open unit on the FIPK. You should be fine. If you go splashing about in deep puddles, you should consider plugging it.

I thought our state icon was the orange construction barrel...

No way man. I never want to do that. When we were growing up we used to do a lot of attempts (key word) trying to cross creeks and streams. I had a lot of buddies ruin their equipment. Tranny's that were toast and motors with rod knocks was only our outcome. Granted we weren't too smart neither!!!

Cebby- Your right the orange Penndot barrel is the state icon. Along with the detour signs.
