Removable 1st gen doors?

Hello to all-
I took the doors off my 88 4Runner the other day. It was pretty easy, but I want easier. I thought about grinding out and removing the hinge pin and replacing it with a big bolt with a cotter pin on one end for quick removal. My worries about that method is fitment. I don't want the door to rattle too much when on an I don't want it to "tilt" when I open the door (know what I mean?). Another method I thought of is fabbing some Jeep-like exterior hinges. If anyone has taken off a Jeeps doors, you know how easy that is. So...I'm sure theres another thread about this somewhere, I just can't find it. Does anyone have suggestions, pictures, things to look out for, etc.? Thanks!
-Marty

i dont get it

I see what you've done to the hinges in the picture (opened up the upper mounting hole and replaced the hinge pin with a bolt), but I guess I don't see how that helps. Of course, the bolt hinge is a good idea, but if that is the part you remove, are there problems with rattling, etc? What do you do with the cut-open upper hinge mount?

Oh, do you only put in the upper bolts on the hinge mount, then you only have to loosen them a little (or not at all if you don't completely tighten them in the first place) and lift the door up out of the half-holes. Cool! If that's what happens there, I think I'll try it. Good job!

You leave the top bolts slightly threaded in the door and place the door onto the hinges. Take your nice shiny 12mm ratchet wrench and tighten them up. I have the same on my 84 4Runner. Take about 20 seconds to take them off and maybe 45 seconds to a minute to get them on. I don't run the bottom bolts, just the top two.

What do you guys do about mirrors? Its illegal where i live to run without atleast a driver side mirror. Had a buddy get ticketed for having his yota doors off because no mirrors.
