Turning off DRL

How do you turn off the day time running lights? In Los Angeles its not necessary and it doesnt look very good while driving during day light. Is there also a way to turn on the fog lights just by themselves? kind of like a rewire mod?

Im also planning on getting H4 HIDs 6000k, has anyone else put on HIDs on the 4runner? If so pictures would be nice.

Thanks

there are 2 exact write ups on here that you'll find by searching. just to help you out, heres a link to get you started, but remember that this has been discussed a lot, and the search function works great.

What year is your rig? And, yes, there is a lot of info on this to be found via the search engine. I'm not sure if it applies to ALL 3rd gens, but on my 2000 there is a connector on the driver's side inner fender next to the battery than can be disconnected to disable the DRL's. I posted pics of this sometime ago...

The two links look kind of different when you look at it...Maybe I thought they were two sets of instructions?

The first link is a link to our tech section. inside you will see the DRL article. the 2nd link from sdastg1 is the link directly to the actual article.

the article is very thorough and many people have used it to do what you need to do. please read it and let us know how it worked for you

thanks,
bob

i like my lights on during the day as it improves your visibility to the other idiots on the road out here (leftover MC issues). when it becomes annoying that they are on, the mod to disable are easy.

Instead of posting that in every thread, why don't you just submit it in the tech section?

Follow the above link if you have an '01-'02 4Runner.

If you have an '00 4Runner, just unplug the little black box in between the driverside fender and the battery in the engine compartment.
