Question Window Tint...Possible Problem??

Hey Ya'll-
I decided to get my front windows tinted and had it done today. After I got home I decided to inspect the job and from afar it looks good. But when you get close it looks like small water spots on the driver side window. There are small bubbles in the tint!! Should I have it redone? It was the bake on tint. In the sunlight from inside, it doesn' look that great. Any suggestions would be great!!

Well, you just had it done today. It's normal to have bubbles like that for a few days. If you are in cold climate, it may take a week or more. They should go away.

And DO NOT roll down your windows for that week! The tint is a film sitting on the window with a liquid between it and the glass. You have to wait until the liquid evaporates and the adhesive cures. If you roll down the windows, it'll squeegee the liquid under the tint, making a ridge.

Some girl rolled down my rear window like a DAY after I got my windows tinted :pat: and then had the nerve to get mad at me because she screwed up my tint! Well, luckily, I just rubbed the tint a little bit and the ridge eventually went away and the tint cured ok

Brad:

If there are alot of bubbles, go back and have them squeege as many of those bubbles out as possible (or you can do it yourself). Like Jason said, tint does require a few days to dry and get all the imperfections out, but too many bubbles and it won't look right even after it dries.

Trangk-
What are too many bubbles? Like I said, they look like really tiny dried waterspots. I will drop buy in the morning and see what they say. Should I believe them if they say it's normal?
Thanks guys

Sounds normal to me. I have metallic tint which I was told takes a bit longer to cure. It was almost a month in daily hot sun before all the wierdness went away.

I like the metallic tint on your truck. are all the windows tinted the same shade or are the driver and passenger windows lighter...they look all the same ...which is very nice.

Dorian

Is your truck on Sandy Beach in your web page?

Thanks Dorian. The driver and pass windows are the legal shade. In certain light, they all look like solid mirrors. My pics are from Sandys and a few out by Yokohama. You from hea? I've been getting emails from guys I think are from here...so far, my replies have been returned non-deliverable...

I wish I lived there. My dad moved there a few years ago and lives right on Kealahou St. When I visit I go running everymorning up to blowholes from his place so I know that stretch pretty well. I thought it looked really familiar. I was just out in Aug. and I did notice a lot of nice work on the 4x4's there.

With the yearly sun you get there you need all the tint you can get. I'm jealous of that truck AND your locale...suddenly I'm hungry for shave ice

hehe, yeah, not too many places you can grind shave ice in the winter. It's nice and clear, kinda windy and a bit bit chilly for us locals...the 60's is cold ya know... a ton of 4Runners here, mine sticks out...in a good way. Aloha

My tint was $175.00. That's about average for most shops to install tint on a SUV. I have the silver metallic. 35% dirver/pass (legal) and 20% on all the rest of the glass. You MUST have CLEAR glass to use mirror tint. One of many reasons I bought the base model. Tint can be applied by yourself, but it's usually best to let a pro install it. Especially mirror tint...every speck and air bubble shows up. Click on 'butnut's site' in my signature for more pics of my Runner. Post your photoshop pics...
