NWOR brake rotors

I'm going to install the cross drilled brake rotors that I got from NWOR tomorrow. I thought of getting new calipers while i'm at it, so i have completly new front brakes. I went to the dealer and they wanted $380 each!!! There is a guy that works there that I've seen at my work a few times, anyways we were talking and he said since he sees me all the time he'll give me a discount. It ended up being a $200 discount , but that's still too much. I figure that if the calipers go bad then I'll just try and rebuild them. Well I'll give a post to tell every one about the rotors.

Don't waste your time with new calipers. Those things will outlast your truck and probably you!

I was already thinking that, but I was also thinking that with 160,000 on the calipers I may as well redo everything at once insead of waiting for things to fail. That $560 price tag changed my mind.

I tend to side with Gibby on this one. There is no need to replace the calipers unless you are "upgrading" to larger ones or are having problems. They are pretty overbuilt for the weight of our rigs and will last a looooong time. They are also a pretty quick rebuild in the event that you need to do so.

Save the cash and put it into something you really want

Yep, I agree also. Like I said, I'll rebuild them if they go bad. And if they are built very well then there is now worries.

You will love the rotors. Between the NWOR rotors, the new pads and the stainless lines, I can stop on a dime now

52 or 54

I believe it is a 52mm or 54mm. Do an internet search for the ADD to Aisin conversion, it calls out the size in there...

The 4Runner's are 50-something mm, the Tacoma's are 36mm. You may have to take a set of calipers to the nut to get a measurement.

The older trucks had a variety of sizes, just to complicate things.

It's a 54mm you need. See the hub conversion article here.

Good Luck...

54 mm socket

I have heard of some people going to Home Depot (or somewhere) and buying a 54 mm nut and a piece of fence post (or steel tube that will fit over it) then, take a small sledge, insert the nut in the end of the pipe and hammer the shape of the nut into the pipe, voila, a cheap-azz 54mm socket. then just use a pipe wrench as the torquer and its off. the only thing I haven't figured out is how they meet the tarq spec when reassembling.

Well, I just got done installing the rotors. They are . Installation wasn't hard, just time consuming. They are definitly worth it. I'm going on a 4x4 trip on the 18th, so I'll find out how they really do.

So did you end up needing the socket for the spindle nut? If so, Where did you get one or how did you get the nut off?
