NWOR brake rotors
I'm going to install the cross drilled brake rotors that I got from NWOR tomorrow. I thought of getting new calipers while i'm at it, so i have completly new front brakes. I went to the dealer and they wanted $380 each!!!
There is a guy that works there that I've seen at my work a few times, anyways we were talking and he said since he sees me all the time he'll give me a discount. It ended up being a $200 discount
, but that's still too much. I figure that if the calipers go bad then I'll just try and rebuild them. Well I'll give a post to tell every one about the rotors.

I tend to side with Gibby on this one. There is no need to replace the calipers unless you are "upgrading" to larger ones or are having problems. They are pretty overbuilt for the weight of our rigs and will last a looooong time. They are also a pretty quick rebuild in the event that you need to do so.
Save the cash and put it into something you really want

Yeah, so, my friend and I took off the cover to the hub and we realized that the spindle nut was a wee bit to big:mad: . The guy at NWOR told be it was a 1"!!! We even tried a 2" but no luck. Does anyone know what size that I need to use and where can I get it???

The 4Runner's are 50-something mm, the Tacoma's are 36mm. You may have to take a set of calipers to the nut to get a measurement.
The older trucks had a variety of sizes, just to complicate things.

you could also just go to napa and get rebuilt calipers they sell rebuilt calipers that are "loaded" with new pads and everything i think they are only like $120 after you give them your old ones, atleast thats what it cost for my pathfinder

54 mm socket
I have heard of some people going to Home Depot (or somewhere) and buying a 54 mm nut and a piece of fence post (or steel tube that will fit over it) then, take a small sledge, insert the nut in the end of the pipe and hammer the shape of the nut into the pipe, voila, a cheap-azz 54mm socket. then just use a pipe wrench as the torquer and its off. the only thing I haven't figured out is how they meet the tarq spec when reassembling.

. Installation wasn't hard, just time consuming. They are definitly worth it. I'm going on a 4x4 trip on the 18th, so I'll find out how they really do.

So did you end up needing the socket for the spindle nut? If so, Where did you get one or how did you get the nut off?
