I recently had an issue with my 94 3.0 4x4 5 spd as I would release the clutch it would make a loud pop and whole truck rattle. Like the clutch did not disengage all the way. I changed the master cylinder and slave cylinder and my shifter seat bushing. I recently drove it and releasing the clutch in 3rd it popped again. I went down and turned around, as I came down the road to my driveway I could not get it into any gear and it grinded reverse in the driveway. With the truck off it will go into gear with the clutch pushed in. It does not slip or do it all the time. It did stick in 5th and other gears. Should I be looking at clutch kit? I have read and read and see all kind of possibilties. Thanks for any advice
If it isn't your clutch pedal bracket like Scope suggests (where is the popping sound coming from anyway?) you should assume it is either Syncros in the trans or the clutch itself.
Maybe even the clutch fork or pivot.
With your "pop and severe rattle" description I would guess that the friction disc in the clutch is coming apart.
Hard to diagnose without my assometer in the seat.
Had a similar issue a couple of years ago where I couldn't shift while the engine was running but fine when not running. Turned out to be that one of the springs in the clutch disc let loose, the mount gave out. Clutch had approx 150000 miles on it.
How many miles on clutch,?
I am unsure on the mileage of the clutch. It just recently started doing it. I checked the fluid and topped it off. Changed all the parts that were common first and the bracket was checked twice. I even made sure the adjustments were all right. I went to leaning to changing clutch and all. Thanks for the help.
Akwheeler the pop is when i release the clutch like it comes from the transmission. I checked all mounts to make sure they were intact and were so i assumed it was not disengaging all the way and the pop was from it kick it off or something.

Time for a clutch, make sure to resurface the flywheel or replace it while you are at it.
There is no way to be 100% certain until you tear into it and have a look, but I would bet it looks just like Andy A's picture when you get there and even if it doesn't there is no sense going that far without replacing the clutch, pilot bearing and throwout bearing.
