1989 22RE pickup A/C
I just bought a rust free '89 22RE single cab 4x4 5 speed truck that has no factory A/C. Being I'm in Texas I need to add A/C so it won't be a winter only truck. I've had no luck with aftermarket air as they don't offer anything post 1984. Could someone point me in the right direction or give me a parts list I'd need to hit the junk yards? Thanks in advance. I'd really like to bring this truck to it's full potential.

Unless you can find a complete Donor vehicle private with a sealed System trying to piece a system exposed to the air will be very frustrating.
As most Auto Parts recyclers reclaim the refrigerant and in this area tend to leave the systems open
I would not want to install a complete system with unknown used parts.
Good Luck!!

Thanks for the input. They're only an hour from my house and 10 minutes from my deer lease. I think the AC underhood package is what I need. I found a doner truck evaporator core with heater core, fan and housing and will go pick it up next week. I might just drive it out to them and have a look.

-evaporator
-dual pressure switch (attatched to evaporator)
-TXV (thermostatic expansion valve)
-receiver dryer
-condenser
-compressor
-AC hardlines, and two soft lines to compressor
-blower motor
i would get everything new that you can. a receiver dryer has desiccant in it and once exposed to ambient air is useless.
only things you should need from junkyard is the lines, ducting, maybe a dash with vent openings

I really hope the EVAP core was removed form a sealed system
Now does your under hood kit come with the AC amplifer which is a fancy name for the AC computer ? Does this kit not use it something to figure out.
Most often it is located some place on the heater box near the blower motor resistor .
Happy cooling

The under hood kit https://autoacsolutions.com/products...grade-package/ I don't see the amplifier. I'll see if it's with the evap core. I plan on taking it to the radiator shop to have it tested and cleaned.

I also don't see the sub harness to hook up the ac clutch and vsv (vacuum switching valve). This post has a pic of one. I mentioned in the thread I can build one new if anyone is interested.

Not a problem, if there's any other connectors you end up needing, or sub harnesses, shoot me a message. Currently not really looking to make complete (bigger) harnesses, but slowly trying to expand my connector stock so I can cover more stuff.
Either case, good luck with the ac kit, hopefully it has everything you need.

I've got my whole kit installed and waiting to charge the system but my installer can't find the pressure switch wire. He says maybe it's been cut out of the harness. It's the wire going to the high side which kicks the compressor on. Anyone know what color the wire is or where it might be found on a truck with no factory AC?

Why do you need a wire from the harness? Doesn't your kit have all new wiring? (I think the equivalent to the A/C Dual Pressure SW is called a Binary Safety Pressure Switch.) Did you put in all the wiring called for in the kit's instructions?
The Red-Green wire from the A/C Dual Pressure SW goes to the A/C Amplifier. You don't have either part.

Maybe I'm not translating correctly. He can't find the wire for the dual pressure switch. He found an orphan plug on top of motor near the temp sensor that he believes went to the original temperature sensor which was replaced with an aftermarket switch/gauge by previous owner. He thinks the wire for the DP switch is in that plug but doesn't know the color. He suspects that plug has an AC compressor cut off when temperature reaches a certain point. He's going by the Haines manual and a test light to find the correct terminal.
