22re build (Mechanically retarded)

A little background to why I decided to rebuild a 22re.
I've had a 2WD 5spd 94 pickup for a while now (daily driver) and loved the 22re. Always starts up, smooth, good MPG and much more. With all this yota 22re love I wanted to keep it going with my soon to be 4x4. So sure enough I found a 89 4x4 single cab 5speed pickup with the W56 tranny 186k miles.

Since I plan to keep my little yoter as my driver I am able to park and work on my 89. Recently found a full 22re engine on craigslist for 250. Bought it, put it on an engine stand and here I am.

I will also say that I am no mechanic. I am using a couple husky socket kits and a few wrenches. So ANY feedback will be welcomed. There is pretty much no advice you can give that I wont need so bring it on please.

Some more pictures so far. As you can see the first few pictures were exactly how I bought it. The others are about an hour into the tear down.

Oh and forgot to mention all the tools and parts you see everywhere are not mine. I am using a corner in my landlords garage. The two little plastic kits on the counter top are what I am using.

The only thing he said was wrong with the motor was leaky gaskets and 210,000 miles. The guy did an engine swap so he had it laying around.

I plan to do a full rebuild on it using the engnbldr kit. I'm going to polish it up and paint it and all that jazz.

And incase I was unclear this motor is completely separate from my two trucks.

Got the head off and everything. Ended up breaking my ratchet on the little pulley bolt on the bottom. Mother effer is really on there. Broke the guts right out of it.

Now I'm no expert engine guy but these pistons look pretty gross.
