LED side mirror mod

Some guy over on the 4x4wire board did a pretty good mod integrating a strip of LED into his side view mirror... not bad! Below is a link to his write-up.

I was thinking about this mod a while back, but taking off mirror on newer 4Runners is the true pain.... I tried that once already!

Cool mod.
I place my money on Bob_98SR5 to be the first one to do it to a 4Runner!

I looked at taking off that power mirror today. It would be a true pain in the ass to do that, and then to get it all back in right.

Also I would do it a little different .. mount it side ways like the mercedes have

i got some of the led arrows off ebay comming in that are red and stick on. well see how they work. im gonna run the wires inside the mirrors then into the weather stripping and to the turn signals.
should look aight if the product looks decent

My friend bought this for his SCION. I don't like it too much. It is really thick in height. SO it stands out like a sore thumb in the daytime. THe light is bright and looks cool at night.

If they make a lower profile LED, it would look nicer.

My concern would be the LEDs being so bright...that you couldn't see into your mirror...

Cool mod. I was going to do this a while back and use the "Mercedes style" EURO CLEAR signal l.e.d.'s. Too much work.

how is safety equivalent to bling?

i noticed today that a woman got really mad at me thinking i hadnt signaled into her lane as we were crawling up the street in traffic -- if id had that sidemarker, she wouldve seen my signal.

lee,

the look is a bling to me, not the functionality. quite possibly there is something less conspicuous?
