Disable daytime running lights?

My 1990 4Runner has daytime running lights, in fact all the regular outside lights are on all the time as are the dash lights. I guess it was required in Canada a bit earlier then the states. Trying not to sound paranoid here but there are times when you might not want lights. Current events have had me thinking about this. Anyone know how to defeat the system so they operate off the switch like normal? As of right now the only thing the on/off light switch is good for is turning on the brights which need to have the switch on for them to work.

What times would you not want lights?

Applying the parking brake should shut off the lights, even with KOER.

I'd say there is something wrong. Generally daytime running lights won't turn on dash lights or parking lights. Maybe the switch is faulty? or a short somewhere.

Discrete Yes. Absolutely

You also need to address the fact that brake lights always come on when the brakes are applied; whether the truck is running, or not.

A toggle switch in the brake light circuit has saved me from various troubles many times in my life.

Gotta be religious about re-energizing them immediately when the danger has passed.though.
